The main objective of this position is to prepare samples for assay, analyze samples by instrumental techniques and enter data into the designated systems.
2. KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
2.1 Education: Associates degree or equivalent work experience.
3. SKILL REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Basic math skills including fractions and decimals.
3.2 Accurate record-keeping ability.
3.3 Communication: Effective verbal and written English communication skills, with ability to accurately complete assigned paperwork in a neat manner
3.4 Physical Capability: Ability to lift between 50 and 60 pounds (with or without assistance). Work requires frequent standing and occasional reaching
3.5 Demonstrated attention to detail
3.6 Must be able to make decision when inspecting samples and performing assay procedures
4. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
4.1 At least 6 months of laboratory experience or the completion of two laboratory courses.
5. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
5.1 Ability to read and interpret adjustable measuring devices.
5.2 Ability to use the company's computer network including SAP, as needed and Microsoft Office Suite products as needed.
6. TYPICAL DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
6.1 Logging sample information in computer assay system
6.2 Inspecting samples for segregation
6.3 Analyzing samples using XRF ICP, SES, GFAAS and/or titration
6.4 Generating assay instruction labels via computer.
6.5 Entering assay data into assay system
6.6 Setting up worksheets and preparing samples for analysis by fire assay and instrumental areas
6.7 Preparing sweeps and CUD samples for XRF analysis by pellet or fusion methods.
6.8 Following all of the company's standard operating procedures and quality policies and procedures
6.9 Workplace Maintenance: Maintaining and cleaning labware, equipment and area.
6.10 Regulatory Requirements: Per training provided, following all safety and environmental rules and regulations of the company
6.11 Perform other duties as directed or required.
