Full-Time Business Faculty
Report to: Chair, Business Department
Starting: Fall 2018
The Business Department of the American University of Afghanistan is seeking business faculty with expertise in operations management, quantitative decision-making, entrepreneurship, finance (including microfinance), accounting (ACCA experience preferred), and marketing. We are especially interested in faculty with experience in ACBSP accreditation and developing courses and course materials that heighten student engagement, and which provide practical instruction.
The Business Department also invites applications from faculty members who are interested in a hybrid appointment to develop curriculum and teach. In addition, the University is seeking business faculty members who are interested in assuming leadership of the Business Department within two or three years with a forward view to the creation of a business school or college, and possibly offering a doctoral program in business.
The Business Department also has an outreach component to provide advisory services to businesses and government. Research is increasingly important, and faculty who can provide leadership for case writing, research, and peer-to-peer publication are encouraged to apply.
The Business Department strongly encourages recently graduated PhDs who are seeking a supportive environment to extend doctoral research, and who want international experience to apply.
Afghanistan is currently emphasizing development of young Afghans to lead economic and social development, and the American University of Afghanistan is the only source of American-style liberal arts education based on global standards. Established in 2005, the University produces a significant number of Fulbright Scholars and individuals working at high levels in government, international agencies, and in the private sector.
The University offers degrees in business, law, political science and public administration, and information and communications technologies. Instruction is in English. The academic year is based on the traditional fall and spring semester system with two five-week summer sessions.
