Job Description

Mercer Technical Services is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Lidar Analyst. This individual should have a minimum of 3 years of production experience in a lidar and imagery acquisition and processing environment processing raw data and imagery into final products for a varied client base.

Primary responsibilities of the Lidar Analyst position include understanding the collection and processing of raw lidar and EO, processing GPS trajectories, classifying raw point clouds to a calibrated state, producing bald earth surface models, and ingesting and orthorectifying imagery from digital sensors.

Basic qualifications for the position are a 4 year degree in a geospatial discipline or engineering field plus 3 years of practical experience in a commercial geospatial data production environment. The degree requirement will be waived if candidate has more years of practical experience in geospatial production.

Candidates should have knowledge of geospatial production, understand surveying and how it relates to geospatial production, and experience processing airborne and/or mobile lidar using Terrasolid tools (Terramatch, Terrascan, Terramodelor) in Microstation. Experience with other lidar processing software is a plus. Candidates should understand airborne acquisition techniques and requirements for producing digital orthophotos. Preferred candidates should have experience using ESRI ArcGIS, AutoCAD, Inertial Explorer, Global Mapper, and Geomedia with OrthoPro. Ideal candidates should have scripting or coding abilities.

Candidates should have good communication skills and be able to use Microsoft Office Tools. Candidates should possess good problem solving and troubleshooting skills, and be an adaptable and flexible team player. Candidates should have a willingness to learn new skills.

Candidates need to understand that there may be limited travel involved and/or overtime needed to meet production deadlines.
