Job Description Summary

Provides leadership and direction for Upward Bound TRiO programs.



Job Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Manages all aspects of the daily operation of the Upward Bound TRiO Program

• Assists in the selection and provides training, supervision, and performance evaluation of staff

• Monitors and manages grant funds/budget efficiently and effectively

• Establish working relationships with target schools, post-secondary educational institutions, and community agencies to coordinate program services and recruit program students

• Conducts program marketing and public relations activities in target area

• Attends meetings, conferences, and workshops for professional development

• Compiles data and develops Upward Bound performance reports and proposals to the U.S. Department of Education

• Monitors and evaluates Upward Bound's progress towards achieving annual program goals

• Monitors program activities to assure compliance with the regulations of the U.S. Department of Education

• Submits bi-weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly programmatic reports and budgetary spending reports to the Associate Vice President of Access & Community Engagement

• Manages a follow-up system by the accumulation of data for analysis as well as the study of data to determine project effectiveness

• Coordinates tracking and follow-up Upward Bound students

• Maintains current familiarity of community resources and services available to assist the potential program participants

• Performs other duties as assigned



Required Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

• Master's degree in Education, Counseling, or related field

• Minimum of three years of demonstrated experience counseling and/or teaching first generation students from diverse backgrounds

• Demonstrated experience in program and curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation

• Demonstrated experience supervising, planning, assigning, scheduling and ensuring the quality of the work of others

• Demonstrated experience planning, preparing, maintaining, and monitoring a business area's budget

• Demonstrated experience effectively making decisions that have major implications on the management and operations within a department

• Demonstrated experience in a role requiring diverse problem solving methods in a variety of situations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

• Possess working knowledge of student career development concepts, practices and procedures with the ability to use in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focus

• Ability to interact with other agencies in developing and providing services to clients, including ability to advocate on behalf of clients for services with other agencies

• Ability to identify and work effectively with referral agencies, social service organizations throughout Cuyahoga County

• Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends when needed

• Possess excellent organizational and prioritization skills with demonstrated attention to detail

• Ability to be creative and exercise initiative

• Possess excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

Work Schedule

Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., with some evening and Saturday hours required. Work is completed on campus and at the CMSD targeted schools.



Special Note

This position is grant funded at Cuyahoga Community College. Appointment is contingent upon continuation of grant funding.
