Position Summary: The School of Music at the University of Alabama invites applications for a tenure-track position in music theory at the rank of Assistant Professor. The search committee seeks accomplished candidates who are developing national and international reputations as music theorists as demonstrated by conference presentations and publications. A Ph.D. in music theory and college-level teaching experience are required. ABDs will be considered if the degree is completed by the start date of August 16, 2018.

The search committee seeks accomplished candidates who are developing national and international reputations as music theorists as demonstrated by conference presentations and publications. A Ph.D. in music theory and college-level teaching experience are required. ABDs will be considered if the degree is completed by the start date of August 16, 2018. Applicants should be conversant with the full range of contemporary music theory and be able to teach a broad variety of courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The successful candidate also will maintain an active program of research and publication and will participate in departmental committees as needed.
