In affiliation with the UCCS Psychology Department, the Aging Center is seeking a clinical psychologist to deliver clinical services and provide training to graduate students preparing to be clinical Geropsychologists. The Aging Center is a community-based mental health clinic for older adults and their families and a university psychology training clinic. The Aging Center serves more than 3,000 older adults annually through four core service centers: Memory and Cognitive Assessments, the Aging Families and Caregiver Program, Psychotherapy, and Clinicians in the Community integrated care programs. The Psychologist will join our innovative team of psychologists to focus on service delivery, training, and administrative leadership related to the programs involving neuropsychological and psychological assessment. Principal responsibilities include conducting neuropsychological evaluations, clinical supervision of Memory Clinic and the Neuropsychology student team when the faculty are not available, managing assessment referrals (marketing, outreach, case selection and assignment), sharing responsibility for program development, and administrative duties as required in coordinating assessment services. Opportunities may exist for providing additional services and supervision in integrated health care environments.

The Psychologist will be responsible for weekly individual supervision of unlicensed student clinicians (Master's, PhD, and post-doctoral level) who are providing direct clinical services at the Aging Center, and potentially at community partner locations. The Psychologist will supervise student assistant(s); in the future, the Psychologist may supervise a psychometrist

Job Duties:

  • Providing direct clinical services including neuropsychological evaluations, cognitive testing, consultation with clients, families, and other health care professionals, and potentially individual therapy for older adults
  • Potentially providing clinical services in one of our partner agencies within an integrated care model
  • Supervising trainees in service areas as needed, including potentially off-site supervision in one of our integrated care settings
  • Training of cognitive and neuropsychological assessment and weekly clinical supervision (including review of documentation) for students providing services at the Aging Center or integrated care locations
  • Participating in regular meetings with colleagues related to supervision and service delivery
  • Managing follow-up procedures with assessment referrals and clients
  • Participate in staff and team meetings, monthly training didactics,
  • Contributing to program development
  • Establishing and communicating clinical policies and procedures
  • Supporting students in clinic operations
  • Monitoring and managing the clinic's assessment referrals (including outreach to market services, oversight of waitlist, and student client caseloads)

  • Knowledge and behavioral skills consistent with the ethics and professional standards of practice in psychology
  • Knowledge and skills of evidence-based practice of cognitive and neuropsychological evaluation of older adults and evidence-based interventions
  • Skills of communicating effectively with clients, colleagues, and staff
  • Knowledge and skills related to all aspects of professional conduct in clinical and academic settings
  • Skills and knowledge related to clinical training, community outreach, and interprofessional health service delivery
  • Rudimentary knowledge of ethical and legal standards related to reimbursement processes
  • Ability to participate effectively on clinical services and training teams
  • Ability to work independently and to structure time to accomplish tasks and goals
  • Ability to track and report on clinical processes and outcomes
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse clinical populations of older adults and those who serve them.

For the purposes of FLSA, this position has been determined to be exempt from (not eligible for) overtime under FLSA.

Salary Range: $73,500 to $90,000

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • PhD or PsyD in clinical psychology or related field (e.g., neuropsychology, geropsychology, counseling psychology)
  • Current licensure, or license eligible, in Colorado.
  • Medicare provider or Medicare-eligible provider
  • One year post-doctoral fellowship training in neuropsychology or geropsychology
  • Experience working with older adults

Preferred Requirements:
  • Two years of post-doctoral fellowship training in clinical neuropsychology
  • One or more years of experience supervising graduate level psychology students in neuropsychology or geropsychology
  • Board certified (or board-eligibility) in clinical neuropsychology
