Summary of Duties:
Washington State University is now inviting applications for the position of Upward Bound Program Coordinator. This position is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of the Upward Bound programs in Columbia, Mary Walker, and Wellpinit high schools in Stevens County. Upward Bound is a federally-funded academic support program that prepares and motivates low-income, first-generation and academically at risk high school students to successfully pursue a college education. Upward Bound offers an academically challenging year-round program, including tutorial services, monthly meetings, quarterly workshops, a local and residential summer program, college visitations, career advising, cultural events, and assistance in applying for financial aid and college admission.

The position coordinates program services supporting low income and first generation college students in completing high school and enrolling in higher education and assists parents in supporting their children's academic success.

The position also assists in serving as liaison with high schools, builds positive working relationships with key community stakeholders, provides counseling and academic advising, and tracks student contacts. The incumbent will conduct orientation workshops for students and parents, assesses student needs and develops an academic service plan for each student.

Required Qualifications:
High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in the program specialty OR equivalent education/experience.
