Lab Manager/ Instructor II - Chemistry

Position Category: Staff - Full-Time

The Chemistry department is seeking a Lab Manager to prepare laboratory experiments including chemicals, supplies, and waste management, for organic chemistry laboratories. Improves current and develops new laboratory experiments. Teaches lower-division classes or labs.

Required Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or closely related field, plus two years related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge in effectively teaching in laboratory setting.
  • Knowledge of organic chemistry concepts and laboratory techniques.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory practices and safety requirements.
  • Skills in preparing for laboratory exercises by gathering or making all required solutions and ensuring the instruments and equipment are in working order.
  • Must be able to manage other laboratory instructors and hourly student assistants.
  • Must be able to maintain a chemical stockroom inventory.
  • Must be able to collaborate and work with others in a team environment including faculty, colleagues, and students.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Chemistry or closely related field.

Physical Requirements:
Physical ability to perform manual work including standing, walking, lifting, bending, and related activities.
Be able to lift up to 25 pounds.

Pay Range: $39,062 to $50,750
