The Board of Trustees of Massasoit Community College in Brockton, Canton, and Middleborough, Massachusetts invites nominations and applications for the position of President of the College. The Board seeks an accomplished and energetic executive who has demonstrated expertise as an institutional leader to become the sixth President of the College. The new President is expected to be selected by March 2018 and to take office by July 1, 2018.
Massasoit is part of the Massachusetts system of public higher education, which is comprised of 15 community colleges, 9 state universities and the 5 campuses of the University of Massachusetts and is governed by the Board of Higher Education. Massasoit was established in 1966 to provide access to higher education for residents of the Greater Brockton/South Shore area of Massachusetts. It has since grown into an institution with a diverse student population that serves more than 7,400 degree and non-degree students from 33 local cities and towns, at three locations. Students study in day, night, weekend, and online courses to prepare for new careers, upgrade skills or to earn associate degrees, certificates, training, or credits for transfer to four-year colleges and universities. With an annual operating budget of nearly $52 million, the three locations house modern facilities and laboratories where 127 full-time and 479 part time faculty teach and support students in their educational goals. There are 302 full-time and 274 part-time staff and administrators providing services to students at the three locations. The Brockton campus is a 100-acre facility, with several modern academic buildings, a student center, library, children’s day care, two theaters, radio and TV studios, and a field house, which houses a swimming pool, basketball court, racquetball courts and weight room. The Conference Center at Massasoit is adjacent to this campus and is available for meetings and functions. The College’s Corporate & Community Education Division is also housed at the Center. The Canton campus is a multi-level facility on 18 acres in the Blue Hills area south of Boston. Specialized labs support the career and technical focus of this location; the Veterinary Technology Suite, Diesel, Engineering and Architecture. This campus also provides creative studios for Visual and Fine Arts programs, including Ceramics, Graphic Design and Printmaking. It is also home to the Milton Art Museum and the Akillian Gallery. Middleborough Center, fully renovated with smart classrooms and a brand new biology lab, opened in 2010. Several degree programs may be completed on site and a variety of courses are offered. The Center is home to the Emergency Medical Services Educational Suite, a space devoted to our EMT and Paramedic programs.
