Duties/Responsibilities

Teach 12 hours of undergraduate mathematical science courses per semester, including evenings, perhaps on-line courses, and using multimedia and other technologies as needed; advise students; participate in course and program development and in scholarly and professional development activities; perform university and community service; perform other duties as assigned by the Chair; and work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse urban population.



Required Qualifications

Doctorate in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics, completed by August 1, 2018.



Preferred Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Experience teaching mathematics at the undergraduate level with evidence of effective teaching

• Broad interests in undergraduate education, including mentoring undergraduate research and recruitment and/or retention of students from underrepresented groups.

• Experience working with and sensitivity to the needs of a diverse urban student population including (but not limited to) students of color, LBGTQ+ students, students from low-income backgrounds, first-generation students, students with disabilities, undocumented students, non-traditional students, student veterans, and English-language learners.

• Evidence of potential for continued scholarly activity.

• All mathematical research fields are encouraged to apply.
