Position Information: University Extension is a culturally diverse environment which is versatile and change centered. Collaboration and excellent customer service is central to its core operations. The University Extension Human Resources Department provides a variety of payroll and administrative services to multiple UCR Organizational Units. The Payroll Representative assists clients (Organizational Units) with payroll and a variety of payroll related processes, including payroll, on-boarding and off-boarding employees, leave administration, time and attendance, and position management. Based on a single point of contact service model, clients are provided with accurate and timely answers to inquiries and assisted with problems, including timely follow-up through resolution. The Payroll Representative performs on-boarding for new employees providing a welcoming and informational environment. All written and verbal communication is professional to customers (employees), clients, and co-workers. There is a high volume of transaction processing, which requires an understanding of UC policy, UC Path procedures, and internal processes. Accuracy and timeliness in transaction processing is vital to success. Currently, there are 2 vacancies.

Minimum Requirements: Four years education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in business, finance, human resources, or related discipline.

Minimum of one year of experience which demonstrates performance as a professional level in payroll and HR related projects.

Demonstrated experience with online Payroll/Personnel Systems.

Demonstrated understanding and application of general personnel, labor relations, HR, collective bargaining agreements and payroll policies and procedures.

Skill and experience providing excellent client service in a multi-function environment. Ability to deliver high quality, professional, innovative, and responsive service; build collaborative relationships with diverse client groups; actively listen to and resolve client service issues with tact and diplomacy; remain proactive and positive when faced with difficult situations; contribute to the development of a welcoming and professional service environment; and maintain confidentiality at all times.

Skill and experience working in a team environment. Ability to share knowledge with others; develop and maintain effective, professional, and collaborative working relationships with colleagues; and partner with others to solve problems, improve processes, and achieve results that support the operations and mission of the UNEX Human Resources Service Center.

Skill and experience serving a diverse customer base. Ability to promote and sustain a work culture that acknowledges and celebrates differences; understand and acknowledge different perspectives; and work to build a culture of mutual respect, fairness, and equity.

Skill and experience independently creating clear and concise written communication that is grammatically and punctually correct. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with a diverse group of stakeholders.

Exceptional data entry skills using online applications, excel, word, and outlook.

Skill and experience delivering timely and accurate payroll and administrative services. Ability to organize tasks according to departmental priorities; successfully work in a fast paced environment at times with frequent interruptions; prioritize and complete multiple activities within established time frames; and ask questions or seek clarification when unclear about expectations.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in using the UC Riverside Time and Attendance System (TARS) and Payroll and Personnel System (PPS) - DOS and Internet based applications.

Knowledge of and experience with Oracle PeopleSoft application.

Knowledge, experience and skill in leave administration principles, policies and processing.

HRDW and Superdope report generation and utilization.

PPS processing experience with academic, staff and student appointments.
