Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Biomedical Informatics, or a related area

Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:

Minimum of three years' experience in a supervisory position providing clinical informatics services and consulting with strong technical, systems administration, and project management skills. Candidate should have a successful record in systems administration and both project and team management in the planning, implementation and management of research and administrative IT services. Ability and proven record of accomplishment managing both service and product development projects from needs analysis through the entire development and maintenance cycles is desirable. S/he must have strong organizational, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
A successful candidate has demonstrated success and knowledge in three of the following seven categories:
- Software Engineering: Developing and maintaining secured web based data collection and management systems, preferably in the clinical research arena.
- System Design: Administrating Linux and VMWare environments and providing cloud-based services including, Infrastructure as a Service, Software as a Service, and Research as a Service.
- Data Engineering: Designing and implementing healthcare database/data warehouse systems and common data transfer mechanisms HL7/FHIR.
- Project Management
- Service/Product Management
- Manager/Leader: Administering and managing information and computing systems.
- Cybersecurity
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years relevant experience in an information technology setting.
- Master's degree in Healthcare, Information Technology, Business, or related field
- Experience with clinical trial management systems such as OnCore and REDCap, knowledge mining systems such as i2b2, and patient registries or similar healthcare systems.
- Excellent communication skills as evidenced by preparation of oral and written materials including presentations, proposals, reports, and memoranda both technical and confidential in nature.

Position Summary:

As a member of the School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) Biomedical Informatics Services unit, provide planning, implementation, delivery, programming and ongoing maintenance of directed IT service group supporting research and administrative activities within SMPH, Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR), UW Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC), Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (ADRC) and other key research institutes and groups. This position will also participate in and lead joint projects between the SMPH and the Enterprise Analytics- Data Management (EA-DM), including development of the i2b2 clinical data warehouse. This position works under the direction of the School of Medicine and Public Health's Associate Dean for Biomedical Informatics.

*Ability to participate, coordinate, and advance IT policies, processes, standard, services and system improvements at the department, school, campus, and national levels.
*Proven experience in planning, development, implementation, and the audit participation of secure IT systems with both federal and private industry security standards including FIRPA, FISMA, HIPAA, CFR 21 Part 11.
*Ability to design and implement modern research informatics services and systems including knowledge of ontologies, and HL7/FHIR.
*Clinical trials, data management: Working knowledge of CTMS and ECRF systems such as OnCore or REDCap, EHR (i.e. Epic, Cerner)/Research integration, Registries/Recruitment systems.
*Clinical health system security: Employing HIPAA/FISMA/21 CFR Part 11, SOP Management, and Risk Management.
