Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field required.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
One years' experience in nursing is preferred.
Experience in the field of developmental disabilities preferred.
Experience in mental health and psychiatric medications preferred.
Experience in prescribing psychiatric medication preferred.
License or certificate:
Current Registered Nurse License for the State of Wisconsin is required.
The Waisman Center is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge about human development, developmental disabilities, and neurodegenerative diseases throughout the lifespan. One of only 14 centers of its kind in the United States, the Waisman Center encompasses laboratories for biomedical and behavioral research, a brain imaging center, and a clinical bio-manufacturing facility for the production of pharmaceuticals for early stage human clinical trials. In addition to its research efforts, the Center provides an array of services to people with developmental disabilities, offers numerous educational and outreach programs to young children and their families, and trains scientists and clinicians who will serve our nation in the future.
The TIES (Training, Intervention and Evaluation Services) Clinic within the Community Outreach Wisconsin work unit, University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities exists to provide psychiatric care and consultation to individuals with developmental disabilities or traumatic brain injuries who are unable to obtain psychiatric care from other providers due to financial situations, behavioral issues, or medical complexity.
The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) will provide nursing services with a specific focus on mental health and/or nursing support for individuals with developmental disabilities. This position will work alongside psychiatrists to provide psychiatric care and consultation to individuals with developmental disabilities. This position will also work together with other personnel across different programs within Community Outreach Wisconsin to optimize necessary support for individuals with developmental disabilities.
A Criminal Background check will be performed. The position is located at 122 E Olin Avenue with ample parking and good office space.
Must complete HIPAA training and receive certification within the first five days of employment and annually thereafter within 5 days of notification.
Reporting requirements must be completed in a timely manner, including, but not limited to effort reporting and outside activities reporting.
A valid driver's license that meets UW Risk Management standards is required for the purpose of driving fleet vehicles, or the incumbent must provide his/her own transportation to sites.
