I. JOB OVERVIEW

Job Description Summary:

The Office of the Board of Trustees provides executive level support to The George Washington University Board of Trustees and individual trustees. The Office of the Board of Trustees also serves as the liaison between the board, senior staff and other constituencies of the university. The office keeps trustees informed of university and board activities, particularly through the website and is responsible for staffing board meetings as well as keeping historical records of the board.

The Administrative Assistant to the Board of Trustees provides front-line leadership and administrative support to the Chair of the Board of Trustees, the Office of the Board of Trustees, and the Vice President, Chief of Staff, and Secretary of the University. Completes daily office management and administrative services, including meeting scheduling assistance for the Office of the Board of Trustees team, assistance with trustee correspondence and mailings for the office, and ordering office supplies.

Acts as point of contact and participates in the answering of inquiries from GW Trustees, University staff, sponsors or general public. Works with the Assistant Director for Board Relations to coordinate response and communications concerning any event attended by trustees, including but not limited to the regular Board of Trustees meetings.

Provides logistical support and coordinates Board of Trustees events which include quarterly board meetings and annual Board Leadership Retreat. Prepares Request for Proposals to hotels, transportation companies, and other miscellaneous vendors, and conducts first level of analysis of proposals received from prospective vendors. Establishes and maintains working relationships with area vendors.

Supports the Assistant Director for Board Relations to coordinate the Board of Trustees website and assures that the data contained on the website is updated and accurate. Works with the GW Trustees to coordinate their information for the Office of the Board of Trustees.

Performs research and prepares correspondence. Researches content of correspondence, publications and briefing materials for accuracy. Performs special research, compiles and analyzes significant data and suggests alternative policies, procedures or work assignments to improve operations.

Performs other work related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/GED plus 3 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

• Knowledge of office of management systems and procedures
• Working knowledge of office equipment, like printer and fax
• Proficiency in Microsoft office (MS excel and power point)
• Attention to detail and problem solving skills
