The Visual & Performing Arts Department (VAPA) at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) invites applications for a tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Art History in the history, theory and criticism of visual/material culture to begin fall 2018. As UCCS opens the new, state-of-the-art ENT Center for the Arts, VAPA seeks a dynamic scholar-teacher who will act as program director by further developing, and significantly advancing our undergraduate art history program within the interdisciplinary orientation of the department (art history, film, music, theatre/dance, and visual art). The successful candidate will join a faculty that spans the arts in a curriculum enriched by engaged scholarship, diversity, experiential learning, and methodological innovation. We are interested in applicants with a research focus and teaching expertise in any area of specialization who are excited about working collaboratively across the arts yet are able to teach the requisite advanced courses in modern and contemporary art for VAPA visual art and art history majors and who have the competency to direct the art history program. Academic year teaching load will be 3/2. Qualifications include: Ph.D. in Art History in hand by August 13, 2018 and a minimum of four months of teaching experience at the college level.
