WFSU Public Media is PBS, and NPR for Northern Florida and Southern Georgia.


This position reports directly to the WFSU Development Director and is responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding all members and prospects. Develops and implements donor acquisition, engagement and prospecting plans. Works with staff to identify needs and giving opportunities; implementing tactics for direct mail campaigns, telemarketing and special events. Direct supervision of all aspects related to on-air pledge drives, database management activities and strategic planning.
Responsible for managing, coordinating and directing fund-raising activities and public or social functions promoting University fund-raising. Recommends and implements fund-raising policies designed to achieve annual membership revenue goals to fund the day-to-day operations of WFSU FM/TV. WFSU is a university licensee for the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and National Public Radio (NPR). The broadcast coverage area for WFSU-TV and WFSU-FM includes about 25 counties in northwest Florida and southeast Georgia. The current active membership of WFSU TV and FM is about 9,300 with annual member donations of about $1.2 million.
Responsible for the direct supervision of three development coordinators, including hiring, guidance, development and evaluation. Accountable for related activities including viewer and listener customer service, membership data management, direct supervision of on-air pledge producer who is responsible for generating WFSU radio and television on-air membership campaigns, procuring and training volunteers, and soliciting food donations. May also supervise additional 1-2 OPS employees/interns depending on the needs of the department.
Responsible for the membership department budget for both radio and television. Maintains and coordinates services and payment arrangements with various vendors including data base management services, member gifts outsourcing, mail campaigns, banking lockbox services, and phone solicitation services. Responsible for the coordination and management of WFSU’s Travel Club Program.
Assists in the stewardship of WFSU’s Major Donor and Planned Giving programs, including organizing donor events and mailings.
Coordinates with Direct Mail providers to develop and execute effective fund-raising campaigns, including telemarketing, special events, matching gifts and the WFSU travel program.
Represents and promotes the stations among a wide range of community leaders, business executives, non-profit organizations, and university personnel. Represents the station among regional and national fund raising professionals.
Prepares and files with appropriate groups all required membership donor performance documents. Develops and maintains a comprehensive knowledge of the stations donor database. Oversees special projects, including the Membership Newsletter and sustainer conversion.


Bachelor's degree and four years of experience related to the duties of this position; or a high school diploma/equivalency and eight years of experience related to the duties of this position.
(Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal eight years).
Strong computer skills and proficiency with databases and software.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to think strategically.
Experience training and supervising employees.
Experience achieving revenue and a thorough understanding of fundraising practices and ethics.
Experience coordinating, organizing and planning meetings and/or events.
A valid State of Florida driver's license or the ability to obtain.


Bachelor's degree in Media, Communications or Marketing.
Experience using Allegiance software.
Experience using donor/membership databases and software programs.
Experience working in public broadcasting or other member-based organizations is preferred.

Anticipated Salary Range

High 40's to Low 60's; commensurate with experience and qualifications

Pay Plan

This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.

Soft Money Funded Position

This is a soft money funded position, with renewal based on available funds and the needs of the University.
