Job Description:

The Department of Surgery at the University of Florida College of Medicine is seeking a full-time, research track faculty member, at an academic rank of Research Assistant/Associate/Full Professor, to join our team of highly productive clinical and basic science faculty in the Division of Vascular Surgery. The successful candidate will conduct research on the etiology of large vessel aneurysm formation and its treatment. This position will be funded by an NIH grant, and requires advanced skills in small animal survival surgery, immunohistochemistry, RNA and DNA processing, PCR and immunoassays.  The individual filling this position will have primary responsibility for creation and full implementation of these analytical approaches, the development of experimental designs, and the presentation and publication of research findings.

The successful candidate will be a team member achieving this goal. The Health Science Center is located on the University of Florida campus in Gainesville, Florida, and is adjacent to the Colleges of Pharmacy, Nursing, Public Health, Veterinary Medicine, Engineering, and Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Minimum Requirements: Applicants must have an advanced degree (PhD, MD, Sc.D. or equivalent) and a record of accomplishment in conducting extramurally-funded (NIH or equivalent) research, and have completed a postdoctoral training program. Preferred Qualifications:
  • Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated leadership skills and a track record of working with clinical faculty.
  • The successful candidate will possess advanced skills in endothelial and smooth muscle biology.
