Job Description

Position Title

Senior Project Technician / Civil Designer

Accountable To

Project Manager/Senior Project Manager

Target Ratio

Direct (billable) hours / Total hours worked


Position Purpose

Primarily responsible for providing technical support to Project Manager by calculating, analyzing, organizing, coordinating, and researching information, preparing drawings, and generally providing assistance with any other tasks necessary to complete the project.

Essential Functions

• Review, analyze, and translate raw field data.

• Prepare designs, drawings, reports, and calculations for the project.

• Prepare deliverables as directed by project manager.

Secondary Duties

• Assist in any area necessary to complete work within the project schedule.

• Assist other project teams or groups with technical, field, and other duties as requested.

• Perform additional duties to add value to projects and exceed client expectations.

Performs all responsibilities in accordance with the Company Best Practices, and continuously striving toward our goal of no accidents, no harm to people, and no damage to environment.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to operate, handle, maneuver and/or manipulate objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; use manual dexterity to operate computer keyboard, calculator, and telephone; talk and hear; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Minimum Requirements

An Associates degree from an accredited four-year college or from a vocational-technical college in a related field plus one to three years related work experience in the area of work specialization; OR any equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to operate Auto CAD and other related computer software and equipment, and basic understanding of computer hardware and software, accuracy, attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is generally in a typical office environment. May be required to sit and work at a computer for long periods of time. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Associate does tour project sites or ride in a boat periodically, and thus, is exposed to the weather, noise, dust, smells, and other environmental factors present in such situations.

Hours of Work

This is a full-time, non-exempt position, requiring 40+ hours per week.
