Job Description:

The Associate Director for Industry Relations - Development serves as the supervisor for the Employer Development staff within the Career Resource Center's (CRC) Industry Relations Group. The incumbent is primarily responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive employer development plan for the Career Resource Center. Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for overseeing employer educational programs and diversity recruitment initiatives to support employment connections and student career development.

1. Responsible for developing, implementing, cultivating and assessing a comprehensive global employer development (outreach) plan for staff reporting to this area. Develops, fosters, and maintains relationships with employers for the benefit of students’ career development and university opportunities. Conducts industry consultations, builds and maintains relations to increase engagement and employment connections for UF candidates. Carries a personal load of employer accounts to advance employer partnership and center engagement. (35%)

2. Provides leadership, guidance, coaching and supervision to two to three full-time professional staff members, as well as student assistants and/or graduate students focused on advancing employer engagement and student career readiness. Oversees their team of staff to oversee the center’s employer education programs and diversity recruitment initiatives.  (30%)

3. Responsible for developing positive working relationships between the university and employers. Serves as the liaison between other university departments and the Career Services Office. Engages employers, alumni and parents to develop pre-graduation work experiences and learning through internships, job shadowing and educational programs and events to advance UF students’ career, personal and professional growth. Delivers presentations to classes, partners and student organizations. Occasionally provides career and job search coaching to students including, but not limited to, preparing for career fairs, conducting internship and job search, the internet job search and other topics as requested by student groups and/or faculty. (20%)

5. Oversees assessments, data tracking and analysis relative to employer outreach, industry engagement and employment related activities for students and employers. Works with supervisor to make adjustments to the center’s business practices, recruitment services and partnership offerings to support growth in new employer recruitment at the University of Florida (10%)

6. Performs other duties as assigned by higher authority to support career center’s mission and vision.  (5%)

Minimum Requirements:

Master's degree in an appropriate area and four years of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and six years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

EDUCATION & TRAINING: Master’s degree in human resources, higher education administration, student personnel services, or related field

Master’s degree in appreciate area of interest and three years of previous experience working in career services and/or related field highly desirable.  Position requires attention to detail and the ability to create strong relationships in a team environment with university administrators, faculty, students, and employers interested or involved in CRC activities and programs. Requires strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, and knowledge of current job market trends. Good presentation, research and analysis skills are essential to effectively conduct outreach and assist with assessment reporting. Knowledge of budgets and career coaching/advising is highly desired. In addition, the following attributes are vital to the successful execution of the duties of this position: demonstrated organizational skills, supervisory experience, the capacity to accept multi-tasks and experience in public relations, marketing, sales, development and/or recruitment. A working knowledge of computers and database management and tracking are essential to this unique position.  This position requires experience working with college students, coupled with facilitative and interpersonal skills in dealing with a diverse audience of students, faculty, alumni, and employers.
