Temporary Career Advisor
This temporary position serves as a member of CAM's advising team. Job responsibilities include furthering designs, implementation, and maintenance of the comprehensive student career service agenda for the College; serving as a liaison with the Career Center; providing students with career service connections to include internships, contacts in the arts community, job opportunities, and other relevant partnerships; continuing and developing additional strategic partnerships with local and national business and organization; meeting with students and graduates to provide career counseling and/or advice on networking with the arts community and understanding/accessing services available through the university; assisting students with career research, interviewing skills, coaching, and use of career resources; identifying data needs and evaluating data trends; managing the implementation and development of technology related to the evaluation and retention of student academic and career advising records and established; consolidating, organizing, and summarizing data; advancing procedures and systems to maintain regular contact and manage relationships with current strategic employers; arranging networking and education presentation events with strategic employers to benefit student's career search.
This temporary position is expected to work up to 40 hours per week and is anticipated to start in November 2017 and last approximately 6-9 months. Please note that the position will be to cover and continue efforts of a regular, full-time staff member who will be on extended leave. As such, the number of hours per week and/or total length of service may vary.
This position would allow the temporary career advisor the opportunity to establish and enrich a professional skill set, including career advising experience, improved interpersonal communication, enhancing their professional etiquette, and working with a diverse population of students.

We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate with the following criteria:
- Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Public Service, Counseling or related field; or equivalent professional experience
- Experience in academic advising, student services, or work in a related field
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and be flexible
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work well with other team members
- Positive attitude and desire to work in a student services setting
- Knowledge of College of Arts & Media programs a bonus
- Experience in a higher education setting
Salary and Benefits:
This position will be paid hourly and is not benefit eligible. The anticipated starting hourly rate is $22 with hours between 35-40 each week.
