Excelsior College, a regionally accredited, private, nonprofit institution of higher learning seeks dynamic, outgoing applicants for the position of Talent Acquisition/Recruitment Specialist in the Office of Human Resources. This position reports to the Lead Recruiter and indirectly to the Vice President of Human Resources. The position is primarily responsible for administering and facilitating full life-cycle recruiting, including; job posting, screening, hiring, onboarding and orientation of Excelsior College staff and faculty using creative internal and external sourcing methods. The successful incumbent will be expected to administer and manage the day-to-day recruitment operations using the HCMS (UltiPro) system. The Talent Acquisition Specialist will work in conjunction with hiring managers to identify and recruit successful employees in accordance with State, Federal, and local regulatory agency requirements, and in accordance with Excelsior College policies. The successful incumbent will also be responsible for the recruitment of part-time/adjunct faculty nationally who will develop and teach Excelsior College's online courses.

Work is broad in scope and requires leadership and independent judgment. The position also works collaboratively with other Human Resources staff to assist in the development and coordination of initiatives and objectives in support of the College's most valued resource - its staff.

This is a full-time position with benefits based at 7 Columbia Circle, Albany, NY 12203.


  • Works closely with hiring managers to ensure that they adequately understand the needs of the manager and the requirements and expectations of the job.
  • Works in close collaboration with all units to identify and select qualified and diverse staff and faculty. This includes managing and administering the search process using the HCMS Recruitment Module. This also includes training new managers in the recruitment process and in using the HCMS (UltiPro) Recruitment system.
  • Work with academic units to specify position prerequisites, including skills, background, experience, and educational requirements. Develop effective and creative recruiting plans for the managers to ensure timely and effective completion of the hiring process.
  • Maintain accurate and appropriate information in the staff and faculty database and run reports as requested
  • Assist the recruitment team with maintenance and upkeep of the HCMS (UltiPro) system.
  • Maintain accurate employee personnel information in file or electronic format
  • Assist with processing paperwork and personnel action changes related to internal moves transfers, promotions, as needed.
  • Assist Lead Recruiter with processing employment based visas, as needed.
  • Provide project leadership, coordination, and planning for Human Resources activities, as needed.
  • Serve on College committees, as appointed
  • Other duties, as assigned


  • Bachelor's Degree required. A minimum of three to five years of in-depth recruiting experience in a fast-paced organization.
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in all phases of the recruitment process, with emphasis on developing position descriptions, determining appropriate requirements, the placement of advertisements, and screening candidates.
  • Experience working with HCMS software, Applicant Tracking System (ATS) preferred, e.g. Ultimate Software (Ultipro) experience a plus.
  • Experience with visa processing such as H1B is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability and demonstrated skills in organization, project management, and database input and administration of accurate data.
  • Ideal candidate must be a team player, quick learner and a self-starter

  • Excellent computer skills, willingness to learn new computer applications.
