The Duke Cancer Network has affiliate relationships with a number of hospitals in North Carolina. The provider and administrative team supports patient care and operations of five oncology clinics at these affiliate hospitals with locations in Smithfield/Clayton, Henderson, Laurinburg and Lumberton . The Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) with a passion for caring for oncology patients in the community, works with the team to manage patients under their care, participates in clinical trials, collaboratively identifies opportunities to improve the program and provides education. As a member of the provider team based in Durham, NC, the APP will travel to DCN affiliated sites to provide patient care (travel coordinated by DCN). The APP will also provide support for DCN consultative services at remote affiliate organizations.

This position provides an opportunity to grow professionally through DCN's clinical practice model, as well as actively participate in clinical research and educational programs.

The APP is responsible for improving patient care outcomes by:

1. Providing direct patient care

2. Supporting the clinical practice of other DCN hematology/oncology providers

3. Identifying, Coordinating and Implementing Quality Management Program activities

4. Supervising other DCN mid-level practitioners as requested

5. Participating in DCN research and educational efforts

6. Completing additional duties as identified by the Medical Director or DCN clinical leadership, which enhance the delivery of patient care and promote oncology standards within the Duke Cancer Network oncology clinics.

Education/Experience

Licensing and training as an advanced practice provider defined as:

Nurse Practitioners:

• Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner, approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing

• NP certification by the ANCC & NC Board of Nursing

• Maintains DEA certificate

• Maintenance of CME requirements for licensing

• Masters in Nursing with a post masters or major as a Nurse Practitioner

• Minimum of 1-year experience as a registered nurse in oncology care desirable

• OCN/AOCN certification desirable

Physician Assistants,

• Licensed by the NC Board of Medicine

• NCCPA Certified

• Maintains DEA certificate

• Maintenance of CME requirements for licensing

• Previous oncology experience, minimum 1 year desirable

Ability to provide documentation and necessary references for credentialing at multiple Duke Cancer Network affiliates.

Ability to travel and current driver's license required.

Effective written and verbal communication skills, computer software proficiency and experience working with electronic medical record systems required.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse people/groups required.

Experience managing employees or interest in gaining this experience as a career objective.
