Job Summary The Accountant in the College of Environment and Design is a professional position expected to perform assigned duties, responsibilities and tasks with a moderate degree of independence and proficiency. With oversight by the Administrative Financial Director, the Accountant should require moderate direct supervision and is to be knowledgeable, trained and competent meeting the business affairs needs of the organization in the assigned areas of responsibility. The Accountant is responsible for support of sponsored accounts -- both restricted and departmental income -- and state accounts and business operations of the College of Environment and Design. This position demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge and professional understanding of the various related business processes of the University, as well as the ability to apply that knowledge and understanding to assigned duties. The Accountant ensures that processing of financial records and related documents meet College of Environment and Design guidelines and University of Georgia policies. Responsible for processing all foundation reimbursements and deposits charging the appropriate account, following up and resolving issues as they arise. Serve as P-Card Coordinator for the College of Environment & Design and the School of Environmental Design. This includes auditing purchases for compliance with P-Card policies, verifying that taxes are not charged to these purchases, and final approval of purchases in the WORKS system. Processes hourly payroll in the web driven system. Verifying salaries, positions, etc. are correct . Responsible for scanning and indexing all hard copy files into the College's electronic data archival system. Responsible for preparing deposit transmittals for the Founders' House Garden rental and the Public Service and Outreach unit of SED. Also prepares the sales tax report on a monthly basis. This position is also responsible for the Public Service and Outreach unit of the School of Environmental Design with accounting matters. This includes purchasing, processing of travel authorities/check requests and billing for their contract work. This position is responsible for the annual inventory of the College and School. Also responsible for making sure all forms for off campus equipment is up to date. This position serves as the Telephone Representative for the College and School. Assists the Administrative Financial Director on an as needed basis. Minimum Qualifications Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related discipline with three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible relevant accounting experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
