The School of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a full-time, Tenure Track Assistant/Associate Professor of Physics and Astronomy position within the Department of Natural Sciences. This appointment is expected to begin January 1, 2018. This position is an academic year (10 month) appointment.

Essential Duties

The successful person will have a broad background in Physics and Astronomy. Responsibilities include teaching, coordinating, and revising courses in calculus-based Physics, algebra-based Physics, Astronomy, and other physical science courses, as needed (including interdisciplinary science courses for education). Other responsibilities include advising and participation in departmental and college committees. The candidate will be expected to have a commitment to excellence in teaching, a commitment to professional development, and to serving students in a collegiate setting. The candidate will be expected to work cooperatively with others and be willing to teach both day and evening courses at the Brunswick campus or Camden Center location as needed.

Minimum Qualifications and Training

• ABD or PhD. In Physics or related field by time of hire.
• 12 months experience teaching undergraduate courses in Physics.

Preferred Qualifications and Training

• 2-5 years experience teaching undergraduate courses in Physics.
• 2 years experience teaching Astronomy.
