Job Title Associate General Manager for Content

Job Description

Under the direction of the WGCU General Manager, the Associate General Manager for Content is responsible for working across the organization in the planning, development, coordination and execution of news, public affairs and community-focused content creation and general audience programming for all of WGCU's media platforms.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in journalism, communications, or other related field.

Eight years of directly related progressive experience in a media organization.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited institution in journalism, communications, or other related field.

Ten years of directly related progressive experience in a public media organization.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Skilled with developing content in conjunction with community members and partners.

Demonstrated ability to create impactful content.

Skill and ability to lead others.

Excellent verbal and written English language skill with exceptional clarity of communication.

Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of professionals in an ever-changing and fast-paced media environment.

Ability to handle public and internal interactions with diplomacy and tact without additional supervision.

Ability to work independently, under pressure, meet deadlines and take direction.

Ability and willingness to work a varied schedule.

Salary Range $90,000 - $110,000

Job Duties

Essential Job Duties

•Provides leadership and creative vision to manage the development, creation and integration of content on air, online, and within the local community.

•Leads original, local content development for all WGCU platforms.

•Supervises, coordinates, aligns and integrates the activities of content producers with the highest standards of quality, innovation, integrity and professionalism.

•Develops and manages framework for editorial and production assignments and deployment.

•Establishes and maintains production, journalistic and ethical standards.

•Supports and advocates for student participation in the content division of WGCU.

•Supervises programming staff and services to effectively schedule general audience programming and integrates local programming into broadcast schedules.

•Maintains meaningful partnerships with local, regional and national individuals/ organizations.

•Maintains awareness of critical community issues, trends, and leadership.

•Represents WGCU Public Media to industry and community organizations.

•Provides training and guidance to staff to stimulate professional development.

•Carries out production, on-air presentation and public appearances.

•Builds and fosters relationships with local partner organizations to coordinate content opportunities.

•Performs general organizational support activities, including fundraising, and special projects.

•Coordinates the hiring, management and mentoring of department staff and interns.

•Develops, executes and adheres to operational and project budgets.

•Serves as essential personnel and provides assistance in the event of an emergency on campus.
