The University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) Student Health Services department provides students with primary health care in order to:
1) Minimize loss of class time for health reasons;
2) Protect the health of individuals within the University community;
3) Teach students the value and nature of quality preventive and curative medicine; and
4) Contribute to the maintenance of a healthy atmosphere in which both students and faculty/staff live and work.
Nurses function as members of the multidisciplinary Health Care Team, and provides direct care to the students and clinical support to other areas in Student Health such as: Sports Medicine, Women's Health Clinic and Medical Clinic.
PRIMARY ESSENTIAL TASKS INCLUDE:
Assessing patient's condition to determine if medical conditions are non-urgent, urgent, or emergent;
Providing nursing care to patients using the nursing policies and procedures;
Providing nursing care in the immunization office; administering vaccines and entering information into "Medicat" and the North Carolina Immunization Registry;
Assisting medical providers with special procedures;
Initiating lifesaving procedures in an urgent or emergent case;
Addressing patient concerns and requests in a timely and professional manner;
Assisting with communicating patient needs to the multidisciplinary health care staff;
Other duties as defined by supervisor.
This is a permanent 12-month; 40 hours/week leave earning position.*
License to practice as a registered nurse in the state of North Carolina.
Two (2) years of directly related Nursing experience.
