Faculty Position Assistant Professor- Thoracic Malignancies Program

Job Description:

Applications are sought for a full-time faculty position with benefits offered though the (Medicine) Division of Medical Oncology within the University of Colorado Cancer Center Lung Cancer Clinic, located at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus (AMC) in Aurora, Colorado. Candidates will be appointed in the Department of Medicine, University of Colorado School of Medicine (SOM), and will be members of the University of Colorado Cancer.

The Division of Medical Oncology consists of a diverse group of clinicians and basic science faculty, clinical and research trainees, research laboratory technicians, students, administrative assistants and administrators. The missions of the Division of Medical Oncology are to provide the best cancer care available, to perform cutting-edge cancer research, to provide first-rate cancer education, to optimize clinician/basic scientist collegiality and collaboration, and to provide outstanding resources for the support of these activities. This Assistant Professor position supports the ongoing research activities of the Division and the University of Colorado Lung Cancer SPORE and Thoracic Oncology initiative.

The University of Colorado Cancer Center is Colorado's only National Cancer Institute-designated consortium comprehensive cancer center. The center is a consortium of three state universities, including the University of Colorado-Boulder, University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus and Colorado State University, and three institutions: University of Colorado Health, a network comprised of University of Colorado Hospital, Poudre Valley Hospital, Medical Center of the Rockies and Memorial Hospital, Children's Hospital Colorado and Denver VA Medical Center.

Job Responsibilities:

This position is at the Assistant Professor level within the Medical Oncology Division, Department of Medicine. The Assistant Professor will be an active participant in the Thoracic Malignancies Program, although additional coverage in other programs may be considered. Programs are involved in direct patient care, laboratory research and clinical research.


Minimum Required Qualifications:

Candidate must have an M.D. from an accredited Institution in the

U.S., or the equivalent. Finalist must be qualified to obtain a State of Colorado Medical license; Eligible board certification in Medical Oncology or Board Certified in Medical Oncology. Candidate must have a Ph.D. from an accredited Institution in the U.S. (or the equivalent), or ability to document significant laboratory training and/or experience in order to establish and maintain his/her own laboratory.

Preferred Qualifications:

The successful candidate must have excellent clinical skills pertaining to

medical oncology in general and thoracic malignancies in particular and a

proven track-record in laboratory-based oncology research, including grant

writing experience.
