Degree and Area of Specialization:
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Immunology or closely related field required.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience:
Two or more years of verifiable laboratory experience in biological research and competency with general laboratory methods such as preparation of buffers and other common reagents is required. Demonstrable expertise with ELISA assays, gel electrophoresis, PCR/qPCR and tissue cell culture is required.
The candidate must have excellent time-management, record-keeping, and communication skills, as well as basic computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
License or certificate:
BSL2 and radiation certification will be acquired upon hire.
Carry out and support research projects conducted in the laboratory of Professor John Mansfield, Department of Bacteriology at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. The Mansfield lab works on cell biology and immunology of Trypanosoma spp, the causative agent of African Sleeping sickness.
This is a fixed-term terminal appointment with a guaranteed length through July 31, 2018. This appointment may be extended up to a maximum of 24 months as a fixed-term terminal appointment or may become a renewable appointment depending on funding.
Title prefix is dependent on relevant work experience.
