The Department of Theatre Arts at Ithaca College invites applications for a one-year assistant professor position from candidates with a specialty in stage management. This position involves teaching courses in stage management and technical theatre, mentoring and assessing students throughout the production process, supervising the casting process, and promoting best practices for stage managers. Department service, including recruitment, is also expected. Ithaca College and the Department of Theatre Arts seek greater diversity in our faculty to broaden our academic experience. Terminal degree required (must be completed by August 2018). Criteria that will be considered when reviewing candidates include: significant recent professional stage management experience operating under the guidelines of Actors' Equity Association, dedication to active and engaged mentorship of young people, a commitment to supporting diversity, and the ability to teach in a college setting.

The Ithaca College Department of Theatre Arts combines conservatory style training with a broad education in the liberal arts. Degree programs include three B.F.A. pre-professional programs (theatre production & design, acting, and musical theatre), a B.S. in theatre arts management, and a B.A. in theatre studies. Currently, students interested in stage management are housed within the B.A. in theatre studies degree. However, the department anticipates developing a degree or concentration in stage management. Students studying stage management learn and practice within a robust production season that includes plays, musicals, dance, and opera. Stage management alumni currently serve in highly visible positions in commercial and regional venues.
