Job Summary/Basic Function: The Department of Arts and Humanities invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of English position specializing in Rhetoric and Composition with expertise in one or more of the following areas: rhetorics of race, gender, or place such as feminist rhetorics or borderlands rhetorics; community literacy; and culturally responsive or multilingual writing pedagogies. Preferred secondary specialties may include professional/technical writing and writing program administration broadly conceived to include writing centers, writing across the curriculum, or first-year composition. This position will begin Fall 2018 and will have a 3/3 teaching load. The Department seeks excellence in instruction, research, and service. Summer teaching assignments may be available but are not guaranteed.
Work Hours: Flexible to suit course schedule. Teaching assignments may include day, night, or weekend classes.

Necessary Qualifications: A Ph.D. degree in Rhetoric & Composition, English, or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution.
A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Rhetoric & Composition or English.
Necessary Qualifications: A minimum of one year college or university teaching experience.
Evidence of active research and publications.
Demonstration of excellence in teaching.
Preferred Qualifications: Willingness to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Broad training in Rhetoric & Composition.
Investment in the needs of a non-traditional, first-generation, culturally diverse student body.
Familiarity with high-impact educational practices such as experiential education, service learning, and undergraduate research.
Experience with contemporary instructional technologies such as learning management systems and e-portfolios.
