A position for a Bioinformatics Research Assistant is available in the laboratory of Dr. Kathleen Lotterhos at Northeastern University. The successful candidate will be responsible for writing and managing code for lab projects, ranging from simulating genomic data to bioinformatics and analysis. A smaller proportion of time will also be spent on other diverse responsibilities ranging from lab management to field work.


Candidates are required to have a Bachelors degree (Masters degree preferred) with the following skills:

1) Knowledge of Python, R, and Bash
2) Experience analyzing next-generation sequencing data
2) Excellent organizational and documentation skills
3) Able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team

The following expertise is desirable but not necessary:

1) IT experience including server maintenance
2) Preparation of libraries for next generation sequencing
3) Field and lab experience

Additional Information:
The appointment is for 12 months, with a desired start in Fall 2017.

This appointment is funded by an award received from an outside source. The duration of this position is contingent upon the continued availability of funding from this award at its current financial level.
