Dean of the School of Film and Television
Loyola Marymount University (LMU), Los Angeles, CA invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the School of Film and Television (SFTV).
In fulfilling this very important role for SFTV, the Dean is responsible for the vitality and success of all programs and activities within the school. This individual will work to extend and enhance the school’s reputation and increase its profile regionally, nationally and internationally. In partnership with the President and reporting to the Executive Vice President and Provost, the Dean leads SFTV’s efforts to advance the University’s mission and to achieve University goals. The School of Film and Television ranks 8th nationally (Hollywood Reporter, 2016). With a new President and Provost in place and an expanding presence in Playa Vista, LMU is continuing to define itself as “The University of Silicon Beach.”
The Dean will be responsible for advancing the reputation of the school through recruiting and retaining talented faculty members to enhance SFTV’s reputation and the quality of its educational offerings; building connections with industry; and leading the formation of the Playa Vista campus, a new 35,000 sq. ft. facility in Playa Vista located in the heart of Silicon Beach.
The most qualified candidate will be an experienced academic and industry leader who understands academia, provides vision, possesses the ability to build external relationships to further the mission of SFTV and promote globalization, innovation and cross-departmental collaboration at the University. S/he will be a visionary and a collaborator with the ability to create and execute a strategic plan and possess a creative, global, forward thinking perspective.
