School of Business Dean at Fresno Pacific University
This position is one of six academic deans reporting to the university provost. It offers an opportunity to provide dynamic leadership to the School of Business, including traditional undergraduate and graduate business programs, degree completion programs at our four regional campuses, and exciting growth opportunities in online programs.
STARTING DATE: June 1, 2018 or as soon as a suitable candidate is discerned and available.
The School of Business offers four traditional undergraduate bachelor degrees: Accounting, Finance, Management, and Marketing. In addition, the school offers two degree-completion programs at its regional campuses: Business Management and Organizational Leadership, and two graduate level programs: a Master’s in Leadership and Organizational Studies and a Master’s in Business Administration. The School recently launched four new online academic programs both at the graduate and undergraduate level. - Works with faculty and program directors to lead academic programs in classrooms, on our four regional campuses, and online.
- Oversees the development of innovative new programs to meet changing employer needs.
- Directs the academic planning process, program development, and program evaluation. Areas addressed annually include: assessment plans for all business majors, retention of students, academic advising, recruitment, and other related areas.
- Manages the accreditation process for WASC, professional accreditation, and other accreditation agencies.
- Obtains external funding and grants for academic and student programs.
- Leads faculty/staff in responding to student, business, and community needs.
- Represents and advocates for the School of Business with the administration, the university, and the community, and also represents the administration to the faculty.
- Schedules courses and recruits, develops, and evaluates faculty/staff.
- Chairs faculty caucus meetings and serves on the university’s academic committees.
- Prepares budgets for the School of Business.
- Attends and participates in university events, and business and professional programs.
- Leads faculty scholarship efforts, including the creation of endowed chairs, centers for academic research, and individual scholarly contribution.
The ideal candidate is a dynamic, innovative, and experienced academic leader who can work with faculty to create a shared vision, work across academic disciplines, creatively develop and enhance School of Business curriculum, and develop new programs to meet the needs of students and employers.
- Earned doctorate within a business field of study or related program from an accredited institution or extraordinary professional experience.
- Strong leadership skills and relevant professional, administration, or operational experience including managing people, finances and resources for an academic division, school, or similar organization.
- Successful college-level teaching and evidence of scholarly engagement and contributions in the academic field.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, administrators, and student groups to create a shared vision and accomplish strategic goals.
- Ability to work across disciplines to creatively develop, enhance, and deliver online education and distributed learning across multiple regional campuses.
- Ability to network successfully within the education and business communities.
- Knowledge/appreciation of diverse student and faculty populations.
- The integration of faith and learning, and the integration of Biblical principles within the field of business.
- Commitment to the Christian faith and the University’s mission of Christ-centered teaching and learning, and involvement in a local church.
- Evidence of engagement in the wider Christian and/or civic communities.
- Experience in higher education with a record of procuring external funding, gifts, and grants.
Fresno Pacific University offers undergraduate and graduate programs that stress solid academic preparation and a strong ethical foundation. COMPENSATION: Dependent on qualifications and experience, and paid out over 12 months. Full-time benefits include insurance (medical, vision, dental, LTD), retirement (TIAA-CREF), Section 125 options.
