Assistant Professor - Public Health
PUBLIC HEALTH: Hartwick College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor starting in August 2018, pending final administrative approval. We seek candidates with expertise in Public Health or Population Health, with preference given to those who have work experience or research interests in rural health and experience or interest in directing an undergraduate Public Health Program. Minimum qualifications include an MPH or PhD in Public Health by the time of the appointment, and professional experience in a Public Health field is desirable. Specific teaching assignments will include Foundations of Public Health, Global Public Health, Epidemiology, the Public Health Capstone Seminar, electives in the candidate’s area of expertise, and possibly general education courses, including First Year Seminars. Teaching load will average 20 semester credit hours or their equivalent per academic year, and all faculty members teach during the College’s distinctive four-week January Term. Administrative expectations as the Director of the Public Health Program will include advising students, overseeing the development and delivery of the Public Health curriculum, hiring and supervising faculty, and engaging with community partners in public health. The successful candidate must be committed to excellence and innovation in undergraduate teaching, active engagement in scholarly or creative activities, and working closely with students in a small college environment. Committee service and academic advising also are expected for tenure and promotion.
