Advertised Job Summary
The Region Director of the USC Small Business Development Center is responsible for the leadership and coordination of all aspects of the SBDC program in the assigned region and represents the SBDC to business and government leaders, the general public and regional host institution. Responsibilities include but are not limited to business consulting, region staff supervision, program compliance and performance, continuing education coordination and public relations. This position reports to the SC SBDC State Director.Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions)
Master's degree in related field and 6 years related program experience, or bachelor's degree and 8 years related experience (small business banking, ownership, management, consulting, etc.).Preferred Qualifications
Prior small business ownership or experience. Consulting experience.
Experience in economic development.
Knowledge of basic principles and theories of small business development. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Ability to plan, promote and conduct seminars and workshops. Exceptional analytical and organizational skills. Ability to speak in public settings. Requires a mixture of independence and interdependence with centers and leadership team across the state. Ability to identify problems and develop solutions, write clearly and succinctly, and assess facts/conditions to reach logical/practical decisions. Able to juggle competing priorities and meet deadlines.
