Degree and Area of Specialization:

-Completed Master's Degree by starting date required.
Preference will be given to candidates with a Master's degree in student affairs, counseling, higher education, college student personnel, or a related field.

-2 years of Housing or Residence Life experience preferred.
-Full-time live in Housing or Residence Life experience preferred.



Position Summary:

The Division of University Housing is committed to providing an exceptional workplace for its workforce of approximately 450 career staff members and over 2,000 students. University Housing provides an inclusive and safe working environment that promotes engagement, empowerment, and professional development. University Housing operates nineteen residence halls across the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus, providing a home to over 7,400 undergraduate students. We also operate three apartment communities, serving about 3,000 graduate students, academic staff, postdoctoral researchers, faculty, and their families. In addition, we manage seven dining venues across campus, and provide conference group and youth camp housing throughout the summer months.

University Housing is divided into five main departments: Administration, Dining & Culinary Services, Residence Hall Facilities, Residence Life, and University Apartments. Whether we're launching new academic support services, testing out a new recipe, renovating resident rooms, organizing welcome events, cleaning our facilities, or inviting a new summer youth camp to campus, everything that we do is to support the mission of the University and fulfill University Housing's goal to be, "The place everyone wants to live."

Residence Life is part of the Division of University Housing. As a student service, the university residence halls provide quality living and learning environments and programs to over 7,400 undergraduate students. Residence Life is responsible for the student and professional staff and programs that create an inclusive academic and learning environment.

Under the general supervision of the Area Coordinator of Residence Life, Residence Life Coordinators develop and manage a residence hall community complex (ranging in size from 500-1150 primarily first-year residents). Residence Life Coordinators supervise a variety of student staff and share in the administrative tasks and operational functions associated with the residence hall community.

Schedule: Primary schedule below; schedule alterations as operation and position expectations demand.
8:00am-5:00pm (some evenings and weekends).

This is a full-time, twelve-month, live-in, academic staff professional appointment. The starting annual salary of $35,516 plus an additional $1,500 in professional development funds and a competitive retirement and benefits package. This position will require a background check. University Housing offers a pet policy for professional Residence Life staff that reside in a residence hall apartment. This policy includes an allowance for cats and dogs, contingent upon adherence to related guidelines and expectations.

Preference will be given to candidates who have experience supervising students.
