ASSISTANT OR ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR IN CHILDREN'S PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

Description: The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (http://illinois.edu/) and the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health (http://kch.illinois.edu/), housed in the College of Applied Health Sciences (http://ahs.illinois.edu/), is searching for a scholar at the assistant or associate professor level to fill a full time tenure-line position focusing on Children's Physical Activity. We are seeking an individual with interests in pedagogical, epidemiological, and/or public health applications among children/youth. We are especially interested in a visionary scholar who can collaborate on interdisciplinary projects focused on effective pedagogy, implications of childhood obesity, children's nutrition, exercise adoption/adherence; and someone with specific specialization in developing strategies to promote and teach physical activity in this population, along with developing effective interventions.

Qualifications: Successful candidates must have an earned doctorate in kinesiology or a related area. A record of academic scholarship and teaching that meets qualifications for the rank of assistant or associate professor at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is required. Candidates must possess a commitment to interdisciplinary research and be willing to collaborate with faculty from a variety of disciplines. Desired qualifications include: expertise in children's physical activity, teaching experience in higher education, and the potential to secure external funding.
