The Manager, Grants & Contracts Accounting for the Biostatistics Center serves as a member of the Administrative Management team for an off-campus medical research center with complex systems independent of the University. Reporting to the Director of Administration, this role manages all accounting activities and complex project accounting and annual closeouts for federal grants and contracts with a large subcontract portfolio; manages a team of accounting professionals performing internal procedures in complex systems to interface with University systems (Oracle, Banner and PI Dashboard); responsible for operational accounting and procurement needs of research projects as well as reporting and compliance requirements.

Essential duties include:

Manages the performance and goals of a team of accounting professionals who perform a large volume of transactions via internal complex systems which interface with University systems (Oracle, Banner and PI Dashboard); assigns tasks, redistributes work, recommends solutions; writes and delivers performance reviews, recommends merit increases and promotions and has hire/fire responsibility for 2+ full-time employees.
-Directs the planning, organization and administration of accounting policies and procedures, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, procurement; ensures accounting procedures meet all reporting and operational needs of the sponsored projects and the Center.
-Analyzes and interprets the accounts payable, accounts receivable and procurement operations and techniques; develops and implements new procedures and techniques for improving related internal accounting operations and to meet new University directives regarding financial systems, closeout procedures, procurement and accounts payable.
-Manages the Center's Clearing Account and monitors the REIA and R-Fund accounts (internal and external); reviews and approves all payment requests, procurement and P-Card expenditures and oversees complex project accounting and closeout processes , reconciles all projects and prepares reports for OVPR.
-Serves as a member of the Administrative Management Team and works closely with the Director of Administration in the financial administration of the Center and works closely with Research Administration staff in financial management and accounting issues of sponsored projects; advises on accounting related issues, resource allocation and strategic planning.

-Keeps abreast of current industry trends and enhanced professional knowledge and skills through attendance at workshops/seminars or training as appropriate and by reading relevant news/updates and regulations on Research Administration, NIH and federal sponsored research in accordance with The Biostatistics Center Professional Development Policy.
-Documents all new processes and procedures.
-Performs other work related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 6 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 4 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
