    The Department of Population Health & Disease Prevention, Program in Public Health at the University of California-Irvine seeks an Associate Specialist for research on GIS and spatial epidemiology of malaria along the Thailand-Myanmar border. We are seeking a highly self-motivated, creative individual with language skills in Thai, Karen and Burmese, experience with GIS and biological data management and with at least 3 years of experience in the Thailand-Myanmar border region. The individual will be expected to communicate with field staff based in Thailand and Myanmar, which will occasionally necessitate early morning and late evening meetings by Skype, Zoom or phone. The initial appointment would be for one year, with the possibility of extension, dependent in part on continuing extramural funding. This position is offered at 43% part-time appointment. A bachelor's degree is required or five to ten years of experience demonstrating expertise in the relevant specialization.
