Senior Applications Developer/Analyst

Elgin Community College (ECC) is a comprehensive, fully accredited community college located in Elgin, Illinois, one of its most rapidly growing cities. Our district encompasses 360 square miles, serving 400,000 people, 11,000 businesses with four public school districts and 15 high schools. ECC also offers classes throughout the northwest suburbs of Chicago with more than 100 off-campus locations.


Analyze, research, design, develop, test, document, and implement software solutions on a variety of technical platforms. Troubleshoot and resolve systems problems.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Research software/service provider options, create detailed system designs, develop, test, document, and implement software application programs. Ensure software solutions are cost-effective while satisfying the needs of the end-user.

2. Troubleshoot/resolve system problems; provide assessments of severity level, probability of recurrence, and resolution options. Resolve problems by working with software/service providers, ECC technical staff, or by directly changing software applications/database data to resolve or clean up any issues.

3. Work with end users to clarify requirements or issues and keep informed of progress on any modification requests to the administrative system software/systems to correct problems, enhance functionality and/or to develop new applications.

4. Serve as the Communications Management Administrator. Design, test and maintain communications structures for incoming and outgoing correspondence with students and employees.

5. Coordinate the preparation of test data and organization of systems/program testing schedules to assure quality, accuracy and cost effective performance.

6. Provide basic documentation, initial training/guidance on new applications to respective user groups for user procedure development, documentation and user training. Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

2. Computer Science degree.

3. Five years technical programming experience in a comparable technical environment using some combination of Ellucian Envision/Studio, Ellucian Elf, , Entrinsik Informer, SQL, Excel, Access, FTP, .Net, Javascript, SQLserver or comparable technologies

4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
