Student Financial Services within UVAFinance at the University of Virginia is recruiting for an Assistant/Associate Director of Financial Aid to join their team.

The Assistant/Associate Director of Financial Aid is integral to achieving this vision; he/she will be focused on providing the highest standard of integrated student customer/client service while maintaining compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations, and University policies. The Assistant/Associate Director of Financial Aid will be a champion of lean thinking and collaboration, communicating and creative problem-solving across organizational lines to successfully support students, alumni, and their families. The Assistant/Associate Director of Financial Aid must represent the UVAFinance core values: to be (1) an impeccable source of information and (2) a collaborative partner; to provide (3) service excellence and (4) communication.
The Assistant/Associate Director of Financial Aid manages the comprehensive review and award of undergraduate, graduate, federal, state, and/or institutional financial assistance. The Assistant/Associate Director of Financial Aid oversees organizational compliance with federal legislation and regulations and works with committees to disseminate information, provide guidance, and develop policy and procedures. The Assistant/Associate Director of Financial Aid conducts needs analysis and counsel students and parents. The position will manage a team of five.
Required qualifications include, but are not limited to:
- Bachelor's degree
- Some experience (up to 4 years) directing a multi-person staff and providing innovative responsiveness to problem-solving within a team environment that often requires the ability to work well with IT resources. Demonstrated experience working one-on-one with students and/or parents or a similar work environment.
Preferred qualifications include, but are not limited to:
- Master's Degree
- Considerable progressive, overall experience (4 to 7 years) in a financial aid setting
The successful candidate will be hired as either an Assistant or an Associate Director of Financial Aid dependent upon qualifications based on prior experience, including outcomes and results of work done.
The anticipated hiring range for this position is $55,000 to $80,000 and is commensurate upon qualifications.
