Posting Summary:
The University of Virginia Department of Chemistry invites applications for 2 Postdoctoral Research Associate positions. The field of study will be using electrochemical sensors to make real-time measurements of neurotransmitters in Drosophila. These positions are for a one-year appointment. However, the appointment may be renewed for another year, contingent upon available funding and satisfactory performance.

The completion of a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biology, Neuroscience, or a related field is required by the starting date of the appointment. Candidates are required to have experience in either analytical chemistry (electrochemistry knowledge preferred) or neuroscience (experience with Drosophila genetics preferred). The project requires strong project planning skills and communication and collaboration with groups outside the university. Candidates must have effective oral and written communication skills. Candidates are also expected to play a leadership role in the laboratory and mentor both graduate and undergraduate students.
