Posting Summary:
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of Virginia seeks qualified candidates with experience in all of the following areas: micro/nanofabrication of soft materials for constructing fluidic interfaces to biosystems, electrochemical analysis and microfluidic impedance cytometry for single-cell analysis. The researcher in this position will work with a cross-disciplinary group of researchers within engineering, chemistry and medical schools to drive the development of devices and instrumentation related to a number of research projects in areas of label-free cell cytometry, tissue engineering, transplant therapies, and biomolecular analysis.

It is required that candidates have research experience in microfabrication, as well as in development of surface chemistries and techniques for electrochemical analysis. Preference will be given to candidates who also have familiarity in the following areas: impedance analysis, development of electrochemical sensors, and fluidic device integration.

Candidates must have a PhD in chemistry, materials science, bioengineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or electrical engineering by the appointment start date.

Salary offered will be commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the candidates. This is a one-year appointment; however, appointments may be renewed for additional one-year increments, contingent upon available funding and satisfactory performance.
