Posting Summary:
The University of Virginia Department of Student Health is seeking a wage psychiatrist to work up to 24 hours a week. The individual will be responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric diagnostic assessments, medication evaluations, treatment planning, and psychiatric management of patients seen through CAPS and other affiliated clinics. The individual will also work collaboratively with CAPS psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, care managers, and psychotherapists in rendering psychiatrically oriented treatment, crisis intervention and case management to UVa students.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Performs psychiatric mental health duties in accordance with established UVA Student Health policies and procedures and the American Psychiatric Association's Standards of Practice.
Consistently demonstrates competencies in the areas of psychiatric diagnostic evaluation, medication evaluation, ongoing medication follow-up prescription, crises management, case management, clinical consultation, collaborative co-treatment with multidisciplinary mental health clinicians and ethical decision-making.
Ensures compliance with appropriate regulatory requirements.
Ensures that the highest quality psychiatric care is provided to patients and their families.
Develops and maintains partnerships with multidisciplinary mental health clinicians to achieve quality care.
Demonstrates strong communication skills, both written and verbal; critical analysis skills; problem solving skills and prioritization/time management skills.
