Posting Summary:
The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Virginia actively promotes clinical and basic research in all fields of Ophthalmology. Currently, we are conducting more than 15 clinical trials in retina, glaucoma, and neuro-ophthalmology. We are seeking a Research Associate for glaucoma clinical trials to work under the supervision of Dr. Peter A. Netland, MD, PhD, Professor and Chair of Ophthalmology.

The selected person will be expected to: Provide overall coordination of existing clinical studies; Conduct data analysis and interpretation; Be involved in the initiation of new studies under the direction and supervision of the Principal Investigators and Collaborators; Actively introduce new as well as make improvements to existing study protocols and methodologies in the conduct of clinical trials; Write scientific manuscripts for peer reviewed journals; and Prepare scientific findings for regional, national, and international meetings.

Qualified applicants must have an MD or equivalent, basic knowledge in statistical analysis and interpretation, demonstrated evidence of ability to work both independently and as a member of a team and demonstrated evidence of written and oral communication skills including the ability to conduct research activities and write reports. Previous experience in Ophthalmology is preferred.
