Posting Summary:
The Department of Chemistry at the University of Virginia invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to perform research in the area of super-resolution optical microscopy, correlative light-electron microscopy, and bacterial genetics. This is a one-year appointment; however, the appointment may be renewed for two additional one-year terms, contingent upon available funding and satisfactory performance.

Completion of the PhD degree in Chemistry, Biology or a related discipline is required by appointment start date. Researchers with expertise in one or more of the following areas are especially encouraged to apply:
- Light and/or electron microscopy
- Scientific programming for instrument automation and computational data processing/analysis
- Biochemistry
- Molecular biology.

Candidates must possess a proven ability to work independently in the lab, formulate novel scientific questions, interpret their results, as well as to draft papers and publish in high-quality scientific journals. Candidates are expected to provide a leadership role within the lab and to assist in the training of both graduate and undergraduate students.
