Posting Summary:
The Department of Neuroscience at the University of Virginia seeks a Research Associate/Postdoctoral Fellow to work on the crosstalk between the gut microbiota and the central nervous system in the context of depression. Position is in the laboratory of Dr. Alban Gaultier, within the Center for Brain Immunology and Glia.

Candidates must have a PhD or MD degree before the start date, and have a background in Neuroscience and/or Immunology, as well as extensive experience in conducting independent research and supervising research trainees and/or technicians. In addition, the candidate must have first author publications in peer reviewed scientific journals and effective oral and written communication skills. Candidates with experience in microbiome research, gnotobiotic mice and animal models of depression are preferred.

The Center for Brain Immunology and Glia is highly collaborative with state of the art shared equipment (https://med.virginia.edu/big/). Research topics studied include brain infections and injury, multiple sclerosis and autism. The University of Virginia is located in picturesque and historical Charlottesville, with outstanding schools, affordable housing, and is less than two hours from Washington, DC and only an hour away from Richmond, VA.
