Posting Summary:
The Department of Pathology at the University of Virginia is seeking a Research Scientist to participate in cancer research. The incumbent will work independently on research projects, spending approximately 90% of their time conducting experiments and analyzing data, 5% on training graduate students, and 5% on writing manuscripts and grants. It is expected that the Research Scientist will report research progress regularly in lab and collaborative meetings; present results and solicit input at local, national, and international conferences in the form of posters or oral presentations; and prepare figures and text for manuscripts with input from the primary investigator.

Qualified applicants must have a PhD, MD, or MD/PhD in Cancer Biology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, or a related area in-hand by start date. Qualified applicants must also have a strong publication record in one or more of these areas. Candidates must have completed at least three years of postdoctoral training, have experience in the field of cancer research, and have the skills for genome data analysis. He or she must be familiar with RNA-related techniques, and have excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
