The University of Virginia's Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost invites applicants to apply for a part-time ADVANCE Institutional Transformation Program Manager to play an integral role in directing and coordinating activities of the University of Virginia's National Science Foundation (NSF) funded ADVANCE Institutional Transformation Project. The goal of the NSF ADVANCE grant program is to increase and enhance the participation of women faculty in the academic workforce in NSF-fundable fields in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and social, behavioral and economic (SBE) science careers.
The Program Manager will oversee the institutionalization and closing of the program through September, 2018. This position requires advanced program and project management skills, and experience in closing and institutionalizing change management projects is preferred. The Program Manager will support the institutionalization of 3-4 individual projects across the University, oversee and ensure final evaluation activities are completed and disseminated, oversee the archiving and transition of the program website and social media, support a final research project on lessons learned, oversee dissemination of program findings, and ensure compliance with grant requirements as well as state and federal regulations. The Program Manager will manage 1 staff, 1 GRA, and a temp. They will transition and close business and operational systems to ensure the efficient closure of the program, and manage the grant budget, including projections. They will advise PIs and Co-PIs on operations and strategic planning; liaise with the Program Officer at NSF, and be responsible for all grant reporting. Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree is required; a graduate degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.
Experience: 5-7 years' experience in project management and in overseeing, directing, planning and implementing complex time-sensitive program initiatives is required. Previous experience with NSF Advance programs preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities include:
-Significant knowledge of academic environments and context of faculty priorities and departmental culture.
-Ability to lead efforts to complete NSF required reports on deadline and to develop a plan for meeting these deliverables.
-Strong writing/editing skills to support ADVANCE team in publications and other writing/editing tasks associated with grant.
-Significant knowledge (or relevant expertise) in evidence-based research and scholarship on faculty diversity and scholarship related to UVA advance initiatives.
-Creativity and flexibility in approach to working with diverse teams.
-Exemplary communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively deliver concise, compelling messages in a variety of formats.
-Demonstrated ability to work effectively in informal and formal teams with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
