The McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia is seeking applicants for a full-time faculty position in innovation and entrepreneurship. The position will commence with the Fall 2017 semester, and the faculty member is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as engaging in relevant service activities. The successful applicant will possess an advanced degree in business combined with significant experience in starting, managing, and/or advising new and innovative businesses. Previous experience as a faculty member at an AACSB accredited institution, evidence of excellence in teaching entrepreneurship, innovation, and/or related courses, and demonstrated thought leadership in the areas of entrepreneurship and innovation are required.
The individual hired will also serve as the Director of the Galant Center for Entrepreneurship. In this capacity, the faculty member will be expected to serve as a liaison between McIntire and the business community, including developing new partnerships and initiatives that enhance the School and UVA's reputation in entrepreneurship, commercialization, and innovation. Founded in 2008 through initial funding from Mark E. Galant (McIntire '80), The Galant Center for Entrepreneurship is dedicated to advancing the study and practice of entrepreneurship. Through the Center, McIntire develops innovative curricula, engages in significant research, and executes meaningful events that bring entrepreneurs and students together. Experiential learning is an important element of the Center's approach. Through Center-sponsored activities, students are exposed to and work with business leaders to convey both the challenges and opportunities that confront any new business venture. In sum, the Galant Center seeks to develop and disseminate the best practices and latest thinking in the area of entrepreneurship.
The McIntire School of Commerce (http://www.commerce.virginia.edu) serves over 650 undergraduate and 250 graduate students, and awards the Bachelor of Science in Commerce, Master of Science in Accounting, Master of Science in Commerce, Master of Science in Global Commerce, and Master of Science in the Management of Information Technology degrees. The School also offers a specialized Entrepreneurship Track and participates in a pan-University minor in Entrepreneurship.
